According to a report in the Daily Variety, the ban has come into fact since last Saturday (December 1) and will continue at least till the end of February. Chinese sources, however, say it could continue until May 2008. Four films that would normally have expected to be cleared for release in January or February have been locked out: Disney's "Enchanted," DreamWorks' "Bee Movie," Paramount's "Stardust" and Warner's "Beowulf." Sony's "The Pursuit of Happyness" was cleared by censors, but also finds itself shut out. The ban was not announced in writing, but some Chinese exhibitors became aware of the policy last week at an exhib convention held in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, on the eve of this week's CineAsia confab in Macau.

I Remember When Adidas Cost $20

Checkout this shoe. It supposedly has a computer chip inside, and adjusts the shoe to your foot dynamically. Good for a product placement in my futuristic Sci Fi Action Comedy, if nothing else. At $250, I won't be buying these. That's like, $125 per foot? I can play in three poker tournaments at Hollypark for that :)

Scab Writers Cross the Digital Picket Lines

Clearly, some people just don't get it. Either this is a good idea, or it isn't, or it may just be fear mongering on the part of the striking WGA members. In any case...Scabs have begun writing some soap operas in violation of the Writers Guild strike. Apparently soap operas can be written by non-union workers by themselves at home with no noticeable lack in soap opera quality.

I Guess I'm Supposed To Be On Strike...

I'm a writer. And a director, and producer, as well as an actor, but not so much of that lately. Do I go on strike against myself? Picket in front of my apartment while I scoff at myself for not understanding the other side's issues? Did I get the apostrophe in the right place? These are all questions I will be struggling with while the WGA is on strike.

Of course, I'm not currently in the WGA, although, I hope to be one day. Will this strike affect my ability to get work right now? I thought there was a definitive place I could send you, however, it turns out, I don't have a direct link. I did find the YouTube video about the situation.

In any case, what started this rant was finding this site, wherein the writer's lament.

Senate Condemns General Betray Us Ad

The Senate voted Thursday to condemn an advertisement by the liberal anti-war group MoveOn.org that accused the top military commander in Iraq of betrayal. The 72-25 vote condemned the full-page ad that appeared in The New York Times last week as Gen. David Petraeus, the top military commander in Iraq, testified on Capitol Hill. The ad was headlined: ''General Petraeus or General Betray Us? Cooking the books for the White House.'' The ad became a life raft for the Republican party as the war debate kicked into high gear. With several Republicans opposed to President Bush's war strategy, GOP members were able to put aside their differences and rally around their disapproval of the ad.

For those that don't know, I used to work for David Heavener. I recently came across a review of his latest opus at Hitch magazine. Of course, it was my understanding that when I approached him to get my films financed, he told me he was retired, but what do I know?

Having Fully Recovered...

From the San Diego Comic Con, well, not really :) However, I do feel that I can write about it. Or, maybe that I can't, I don't know. I'm sure you've read elsewhere about the incredible firsts we had this year, so, I won't bore you with the details. I can really only relate my personal experience.

I did manage to enjoy the Con more this year than last. Mostly because I realized that working behind the masquerade desk 24/7 was a loser move that I made last year. So, I made myself available, while at the same time taking breaks to enjoy myself. This worked for the most part. I saw the pilot to Chuck, and Torchwood. I highly recommend them both.

Why should you take my word for it? Well, simply because I told everyone last year that Heroes would be a hit, about three months before everyone else jumped on the bandwagon....

In other news, caught a portion of the Film School Session, not to be missed. Also, missed out on any good Batman news, so, if anyone would care to share.... :)

Since No One is Reading...

I can write whatever I want....



Ok, my writing partner and myself have undertaken an interesting endeavor, to wit: Write the reverse of Inherit the Wind. For those that haven't seen the movie, it's basically a fictionalized account of The Scopes Monkey Trial. For those that don't know what that is, well....



Now, of course, our angle is, that since evolution is the predominant junk science being taught these days, that anyone teaching Intelligent Design is in the minority, and therefore needs to speak up, and have their voice heard.



Clearly, there must be something to this argument, as we find there's a whole slew of books out there promoting Darwinism, which at its base, is indeed, atheism. Websites everywhere, espousing both points of view, even referencing each other....



I wonder what God has to say about all this?

Was going to write something else today....

However, I found out today, that I can add Kobe Bryant to the long list of whiners. Yes, that's right, I just heard that he, "Demands to be traded..." and he says furthermore, there's absolutely nothing the Lakers can do, to make him change his mind.

Sure there is. They can not capitulate to his demand, and tell him to stop acting like a crybaby, and to honor his contract, and play the best damn B-ball he knows how. Furthermore, he should leave the front office decisions to those in the front office, that know a little more about what's going on than he does.

Random Thoughts As They Occur

Must be a reason.... It would seem that I can't post to my friend's 'blog, even though he's given me full access, so, this is yet another random rant, even though I've never posted one here before. I have other places that I do that, the most visible being at Soak World. But right now, as I'm testing this fabulous 'new' Blogger, I'm bloviating here. My browser's dictionary doesn't contain the word bloviating. I suggest the browser look it up. It's a great word, really. And most people that you see in the public eye do it every day. In any case, I think I've worked out my current anger, so, I'll see if this actually posts....
